Merritt (BCHL) defenseman Kevin Lohan has verbally committed to Michigan per the Centennials website. Depending what happens in the off season, he will either join the Wolverines in 2013 or 2014.
He’s an older target at 19 years old (and will turn 20 on October 1) and a big target, too. Lohan is listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds. He has three goals and 11 assists in 40 games with the Centennials.
“Kevin has shown tremendous growth here as a player and is well deserving of this opportunity. He has been a tremendous addition to our hockey club as his character has fit in seamlessly with our environment here. He has become a big-minute player for us and has provided a very calming presence amongst our defence core. With his size and intelligence he has been able to establish himself as an elite player in our league,” said Cents coach and GM Luke Pierce.
Pierce continued, “The Wolverines program is perhaps the most prestigious in all of college hockey and has produced several NHL stars over the years. We know Kevin’s goal is to join that group one day and we are excited for him in his opportunity to achieve another life-long dream.”
According to the Western College Hockey Blog, Kevin is the first cousin of actress Lindsay Lohan of, oh…several movies and several appearances on TMZ. Hopefully Kevin ends up being remembered for what he accomplishes on the ice, not off it!
