Nanooks down Wolverines in shootout

By Jason Paul | January 16, 2010

Quick update…

Michigan staged a two goal comeback and tied the game 3-3 late in regulation on a goal by Chad Langlais.  After a scoreless overtime period, the Wolverines had their first ever league shootout and lost 1-0.  Dion Knelsen scored the lone shootout goal.

So while the  game will officially go down as a tie in terms of NCAA standings, in terms of league standings the Nanooks picked up two points tonight and the Wolverines take one point.  Michigan is four points behind Alaska and five points behind Lake Superior for fourth place, but have two games in hand on both teams.

I noticed that they took out Tristan after taking three penalties in the first two periods (to give him a team leading total of 19 penalties this season). I sure would like to know what’s going on with that kid, after notching two assists last night, he sure didn’t look good tonight.

I would also like to know why Pateryn and Vaughn were scratches for the weekend…anyone know why?

According to the Michigan Daily, Scooter had a shoulder injury and Pateryn hasn’t played much this season and was a healthy scratch.
