Latest polls
The latest USCHO/CSTV hockey poll is out and despite a split with Michigan State, the Wolverines retain the top spot, though they did lose a few votes.
Michigan received 35 first place votes and 963 points. North Dakota garnered 10 first place votes and 931 points for the #2 spot, and New Hampshire took the remaining five first place votes and 899 points for #3.
Colorado College, Miami, and Michigan State followed behind the Wildcats as the top six spots remained unchanged from last week. Notre Dame fell to #11 and is the only other CCHA team ranked.
In the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, the Wolverines are #1 with 28 first place votes. New Hampshire takes the #2 spot with three first place votes, and North Dakota is #3, also with three first place votes. Just four points separates those two schools. Colorado College, Miami, and Michigan State round out the top six.
Czarnik receives praise
2008 recruit Robbie Czarnik of the U.S. National Team Development Program Under-18 Team recently received some praise from Red Line Report chief scout Kyle Woodlief.
In his latest column for USA Today, Woodlief lists Czarnik among his rising players and says Robbie “showed us more in one week in Finland than we’ve seen from him in the past year. Don’t know where the new-found confidence and aggression came from, but we like it.”
In 40 games with the NTDP, Czarnik is third with 13 goals and fourth with 26 points. Teammate and fellow Michigan recruit David Wohlberg has eight goals and 17 points in 36 games.
No TV for Senior Night
This Friday’s game against Ferris State is Senior Night at Yost, but unless you can make the game, you won’t be able to see it live on TV.
If I remember correctly, the game was originally suppose to be broadcast by the Big Ten Network, but they dropped it. Comcast Local isn’t picking it up, either. Usually student station WOLV-TV will broadcast any home games none of the networks take, but they are entering spring break and will not have enough bodies around.
You can still catch highlights of the game on MGoBlue.com and next week on Fox Sports Detroit’s Wolverine Sports Magazine.
