The game tonight summed up Michigan's season in a nutshell. I didn't expect Michigan to win before the game started, but after sitting through it….. they let yet another one get away. Guys missing nets, bad first goal given up by Hogan, then topped off with the late period meltdown by the Captain taking two penalties in the final five minutes. You can say what you want about the calls (I personally think both of them were shit), but this team's inability to find that go to scorer who can finish puts them in these types of situations. Don't want to get screwed by officiating? Don't put yourself in a position to allow it to happen. Take care of business before hand. I mean was Louie even in Madison tonight? Was there even a sighting?
All told, this was just another day in a loooooon year. Yes, I know, they battled back last Friday before getting screwed by Shegos, but Shegos didn't put them down 3-0. The next night they were fortunate to survive another late game meltdown.
I would love to see this team squeak into the tourney because I don't want to see the streak end. They could have taken a HUGE step tonight, but missed opportunities, bad penalties and bad goals is what the 2009-2010 Michigan Hockey Team is all about. As a matter of fact, you could say that is the ENTIRE U of M 2009-2010 sports year has become.
The bad part…… we still get another full year of Bryan Hogan in net, guys who can't finish and broken dreams. Plus a few guys coming in who may spend more time at Scorekeepers getting drunk then they will on the ice.
Go Blue indeed.
